CEO Faustino Júnior Discusses the Startup’s Expansion Plans in the United States
The Continuing Medical Education (CME) market in the United States is valued at over $3 billion and is growing rapidly, driven by the demand for flexible digital learning solutions. With more than one million licensed physicians in the country, there is an increasing need for platforms that offer accessible and high-quality medical education. This is where Medflix comes in—the “Brazilian streaming service for continuing medical education,” created by Dr. Faustino Júnior, founder of FGMED and the American Associates Alliance (AAA).
The success of FGMED, Brazil’s largest medical edtech, is the result of the strategic vision of its CEO, Dr. Faustino Júnior—a lawyer, entrepreneur, and investor with over 20 years of experience. His career includes leadership positions in Brazil’s largest educational groups, leading him to recognize the lack of robust continuing medical education programs and ultimately create FGMED.
Today, FGMED has trained over 100,000 physicians and has a valuation exceeding $70 million. Its aggressive digital expansion into Latin America, initiated in 2024, has generated over $300 million in sales, driven by its financial arm, FG Investments, also led by Dr. Faustino. Now, the goal is even more ambitious: to establish Medflix as a leading platform in the U.S. market.
A New Approach to Medical Learning
Medflix is designed to make continuous learning accessible and adaptable to the busy schedules of healthcare professionals. Similar to streaming services, it allows physicians to learn at their own pace, from anywhere, at any time. With a broad range of content, including clinical simulations, real case studies, and specialized courses, Medflix surpasses traditional education methods.
“We wanted to create something that seamlessly fits into a physician’s routine while still providing the depth of in-person training,” explains Dr. Faustino. “Medflix enables doctors to keep up with medical advancements without compromising their professional responsibilities.”
The platform offers over 10,000 courses across various specialties, including Cardiology, Dermatology, Radiology, and Intensive Care Medicine. Additionally, it provides specialized study tracks for physicians preparing for board certification and residency exams, integrating telemedicine training and clinical mentorship. A key differentiator is the access to more than 100 international certification programs for medical specialization.
FGMED’s Expansion into the U.S.
Following its success in Brazil, FGMED is now targeting the U.S. market to address gaps in medical education.
“In the United States, many professionals struggle to balance continuing education with their clinical practices. Additionally, there is a shortage of post-residency programs. Medflix offers a flexible solution to meet this demand,” explains Dr. Faustino.
The U.S. expansion strategy includes strategic partnerships in New York and Florida to tailor content to the needs of local professionals. The goal is to replicate the success in Brazil and build a community of continuously evolving physicians.
“We want Medflix to be more than just a learning platform. Our focus is on building a network of professionals committed to the continuous advancement of their careers,” emphasizes Dr. Faustino.
A Global Vision: IPO on NASDAQ and International Expansion
As the founder of the American Associates Alliance (AAA), Dr. Faustino leverages his international expertise to integrate AAA into FGMED’s global expansion. AAA is an exclusive membership network connecting entrepreneurs and investors to drive the strategic transformation of businesses in international markets, providing valuable support for FGMED’s internationalization.
Finally, Dr. Faustino’s business group is preparing for FGMED’s first IPO on NASDAQ.
“Our goal is to attract global investors and expand into emerging markets, such as Asian countries, within the next five years,” concludes Dr. Faustino Júnior.
